Sustainable Peace Begins with You
Sustainable peace does not fall from the sky,
It rises quietly when you choose why.
When anger pauses before it can speak,
And strength is found in the gentle or the meek.
It begins in the word you refuse to make sharp,
In listening longer, in softening the heart.
In choosing dialogue over the ease of blame,
In seeing a human before his name.
Peace grows when you teach a child to care,
When fairness replaces silent despair.
When you build, not conquer; heal, not divide,
When justice walks calmly at dignity’s side.
It starts with the courage to question your fear,
To stand for what’s right, even when none are near.
With hands that plant hope where ruins remain,
And minds that believe war is not fate’s chain.
Sustainable peace is a daily art,
Written first in the soul, then lived in the part
You play in this world,
small, yet true:
Sustainable peace development begins with you.
